AREAS DE INTERÉS

Mis intereses de investigación se han enfocado a la cartografía geológica de superficie, mineralogía y petrología aplicada, caracterización de materiales geológicos, mineralogía genética y de procesos, génesis de yacimientos minerales, síntesis y caracterización de zeolitas y geopolimeros, y remediación ambiental. Durante los últimos 10 años he dado particular interés al campo de las ciencias aplicadas con relación al uso de materias primas de bajo costo, principalmente a través de la valorización, el reciclaje y el uso de residuos industriales, para su transformación tecnológica en materiales tales como zeolitas y geopolímeros.

El trabajo de investigación se ha llevado a cabo de manera interdisciplinaria, lo cual ha permitido el desarrollo y la aplicación de estos materiales a través de tecnologías innovadoras aplicadas en la remediación de problemas ambientales generados por la actividad antropogénica. Mi método de investigación se fundamenta en la integración de técnicas analíticas (estereomicroscopía, microscopía de luz transmitida, microscopia electrónica de barrido, análisis de microsonda electrónica, fluorescencia y difracción de rayos X, espectroscopia infrarroja por transformada de Fourier y Raman, resonancia magnética nuclear, termogravimetría, entre otras) y ensayos de caracterización, así como el diseño de programas de pruebas de laboratorio con fines medioambientales.

Mis metas a corto y largo plazo son trabajar en proyectos enfocados a la comprensión de las propiedades de los geomateriales y residuos industriales, así como su transformación industrial en materiales de aplicación en la solución de problemas ambientales.
